Julio's Corner

Julio’s Corner Episode 5: I Guess War Is Now Peace?!

Julio From NY Episode 5

This is Julio's Corner, my corner of the internet, where I talk about whatever is on my mind.

I'll mostly talk about stuff I've watched, read, or listened to.

But I may get introspective at times and reflect on my life or on society at large.

This episode is being recorded on Monday, June 23rd, 2025.

And since the last episode, a little bit about myself first, and then we'll get right back into the meat and potatoes of the show.

So as I mentioned last week, the reason for the delayed episode was I was applying to job applications.

I was applying to jobs, processing applications and whatnot.

And another week has gone by, and so far I received one rejection and zero extra responses.

So that's my personal life on my search for another job.

My ballot for the primary has already been mailed in.

It should definitely have been received since I mailed it in on Monday.

This Tuesday is the election day for the primary.

So, I am very hopeful that Zoran Mamdani wins the mayoral candidate for the Democratic Party.

We shall see.

Como is Andrew Como's second place, and he has a lot of big money behind him, from DoorDash, from Mike Bloomberg and other people.

And they have been pushing anti-Mamdani propaganda to try to shift the rising tide of popularity that Zoran is having.

And of course, their tactics are also getting extra racist because they are becoming very anti-Islam, because he is Muslim, so they are trying to portray him as a terrorist basically, which is very racist, because just because you are a Muslim does not make you a terrorist.

You can say the same for radical Christians or what about Israel right now, who is committing a genocide and causing terror around their neighboring nations, like the whole Beeper Gate situation in Lebanon and attacking Iran and attacking Syria, I believe, and who knows who else.

So, and of course, pushing US to join them into attacking Iran.

So, who are the real terrorists here, right?

Anyway, moving on.

That's all I have for my personal news for the most part.

Nothing else, really.

Just reading more comics, trying to get back into persons of interest.

I still have my notes for that show for some time in the future, but I just I feel like what's happening right now is a lot more pressing and in the moment of stuff that we need to discuss.

So let me get the news jingle going and we'll get right on it.

Okay, so, as you know, in the last episode, ICE raids have been increasing their illegal tactics, which caused the protests to intensify in LA, which then Trump has federalized the National Guard, which is another illegal tactic.

And of course, he also sent the Marines, another illegal tactic.

And there is a lawsuit pending.

Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, is suing Trump to stop these actions, because the clause that he used clearly states that you're supposed to get governor approval for these actions.

And he hasn't.

And one court, I believe a lower court, approved his Newsom's charge.

But then another court overturned it.

So I believe now this has to go to like the Supreme Court or something else.

So while that trial is pending, Trump is continuing with his illegal actions of having the Marines there and federalizing the National Guard.

And of course, morale for ICE and all these guys is is plummeting because they know what they're doing is illegal.

If they didn't, they wouldn't be hiding their face behind masks and not wearing their uniforms, wearing planes clothes, and not having any identifiable markers so we can see who they are and just doing these things illegally.

So if they were human and had a conscience and they don't want to be demoralized, they should just quit their jobs, but they're not doing it.

So I really don't have much sympathy for them.

So, as I was mentioning, so while that's happening, anyway, there are plans for Trump to do this in New York City, where I live, Seattle, Portland, and I believe, Washington.

I'm not...

Chicago, Chicago.

That's the other city.

So blue cities.

He wants to go after sanctuary cities and cities that are known to be mostly blue, which means mostly democratic, because he's a petty bitch.

So anyways, here in New York, Comptroller Brad Lander, my ranked number two for the mayoral primary, he got arrested by ICE, because he was in immigration court, part of a program that he volunteers for, where they go to these hearings to help support migrants that are doing these cases, to try to seek asylum or seek residency, or just to see what's the pending status of the filing to live here.

So he was there with a case, I don't know the guy's name, but while he was there, ICE showed up, the case was dismissed, and as of course Brad Lander and the immigrant left the courthouse and were in the hallway, ICE immediately surrounded them and tried to take the guy in.

Brad Lander had his arm around him and requested to see the judicial warrant for his arrest.

And instead of doing that, they arrested him.

They claimed that he was assaulting an officer by just standing there and questioning the actions of ICE and the police that were backing ICE, which video clearly shows he's not hitting anyone.

He's not attacking or assaulting, as they call it, anyone.

He was just there getting assaulted himself and getting arrested.

Governor Hokel eventually came there to get him released.

And for the moment, that's pretty much the situation.

But so already, we can see that ICE is starting to increase their vigilance and hostilities here in New York City.

And we can only imagine how, you know, what to expect.

If California is any indication, I can only imagine how it's going to be here when Trump sends the National Guard, he federalizes them here, against Hokels, Witches, and of course, also then sends in the Marines.

So we shall see.

In some better news, regarding the parade that Trump had last weekend, practically no one showed up.

Supposedly, they were set up for 200,000 people in the audience.

They're reporting that 100,000 showed, but it really, if you look at the video footage of it, it looks like it's even less than that.

It was mostly people that were hired as fillers, you know, as seat fillers, and of course, the military who were doing the parade, and Trump and his lackeys that sat next to him.

There's also video footage of these people not being entertained by this stupid parade at all, and what's his name?

Rubio, Marco Rubio was caught yawning during the proceedings, which is comical.

While that was going on, the No Kings Parades protests, the No Kings protests, I should say, that happened throughout the country was in the millions.

So you have this military parade that had maybe 100,000 show versus the millions and millions of people that showed up for the No Kings Parade, just showing how much the country is against what's happening right now.

On top of that, we found more information, we got more information regarding the parade.

It cost 45 million dollars in taxes.

So money well spent, I guess, because the whole purpose of this new beautiful bill that's trying to pass is to try to cut the deficit and whatnot.

And yet, and they're cutting programs that help the poor, but somehow they found it in their military budget to throw out 45 million dollars for this parade.

Because, you know, being fiduciary responsible, which is a load of bull, obviously.

And also it was, the parade was sponsored by Coinbase, which is a Bitcoin bank of some sort.

I don't know much about Bitcoin.

I avoid cryptocurrency because it's all a scam.

And sadly, the crypto people are getting laws passed into our country to create more crypto opportunities, which are, as I said, scams.

And we shall see how that's going to affect our, you know, actual banks and our actual USD currency, and how the citizenry that aren't wealthy, how they're going to be able to financially support themselves if we all become a coin-based society.

Because as El Salvador has shown, it is not the way to go.

It's going to destroy your economy.

But Trump is only caring about his immediate profits, and all these other people, of course, they're only looking at the short term.

More bad, so back to the bad news.

Trump attacks Iran.

So they've joined sides with Israel to escalate the situation, and the peace president, as he's trying to call himself, he's the anti-war president.

I have a headline here that says, Trump calls US strikes on Iran a spectacular military success.

And he warns of more attacks if Iran doesn't make peace.

Like, really?

How is escalating violence over there peaceful?

If anything, now you're compelling Iran to strike back, because enough is enough.

Israel attacked them first.

They attack Israel.

Israel claims, oh, we're victims here.

Why don't they just let us attack them and not attack us back?

Shame on them.

And now we're attacking them, and we're not supposed to expect any retaliation.

Like, what the hell?

So, this is going to be very much like the Iraq War, which was a illegal war made by, made to happen during the Bush administration, because supposedly Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, which turned out to be false.

It was a war created by false precedents.

And this is similarly happening right now, because even though the military intelligence has already reported, as early as March to Trump, that there is no signs that Iran has been working on nuclear weapons.

They only have power plants, because that's for power to give power to their country, like electricity.

That's what it is.

It's their power.

But no, Trump chooses to believe Israel instead, because I guess we're Israel now.

We're not the US.

We're the United States of Israel.

We're not the fucking United States of America.

And your own intelligence is not to be believed anymore, because you want to believe whoever gives you money instead.

So it looks like we're going to further escalate wars here.

And we may, in fact, be at the beginning of World War III, because Iran is going to attack the military bases around them, the US military bases around them.

And then obviously, that's going to now make Trump more belligerent and double down on this stupidity, because he believes this is going to...

He believes by attacking them, he's going to bully them into a deal in our favor, which is dumb.

The fact of the matter is, when Barack Obama was president, we already had the Iran nuclear deal, which set in place, you know, a plan that we would release sanctions, we would give them back the money that we stole from them.

And Iran would not create any nuclear missiles or nuclear weapons.

They would only use enough nuclear, you know, uranium or whatever that is, for their power plants to power up their country.

And they would have regular inspections.

There's another country that was supposed to sign this deal and agree to the terms of this deal, and that country is Israel.

And Israel did not sign said contract, and they were not taking the task because, again, we apparently let Israel do, because we're the United States of Israel, and we let them do whatever they want.

And Iran had, for all this time, followed along with the agreement, but apparently were not to be trusted, because Trump then took office, and immediately, in his first term, he immediately canceled that agreement, and put back the sanctions, and left Iran with no recourse, but to, okay, we're just going to increase our nuclear production.

Again, for power plants, we're not making any nuclear missiles.

But yeah, we don't need to kowtow to you anymore, because you broke the deal.

And for 30 years, since the 90s, Netanyahu has been saying that Iran is going to have a nuclear missile in two months, in the next two weeks, in the next two weeks, in the next two months, in the next two weeks, for 30 years.

And for 30 years, that hasn't been the case.

But now Trump believes in the next two weeks or the next two months, Iran is going to have nuclear missiles, which is, again, not the case.

And he just bought the lie by Netanyahu.

And we lost the war in Iraq.

And Trump, when he was running for office, was talking about what a failure this war was, this war in Iraq was.

And he wouldn't be foolish enough to do this again.

And Iraq is much smaller than Iran.

Iran is a country of 92 million people.

And they have been, with the exception of creating nuclear weapons, they have done other, they have taken other contingencies to make themselves ready for such a situation.

Because unlike most of the countries in that area that are, that were bullied by the US to, you know, to make some kind of agreements, and of course, with the help of Israel, because Israel is our ally, and they are a belligerent douche of a country who believes in an ethno-state and claim to be the victims, while being the ones that are causing all the aggression in that region of the world.

Iran is the one country that's pretty much fully independent.

They do not depend on us.

They do not have any of these agreements to the Petro...

I believe it's an agreement with the Petro Dollar that a lot of these other countries in the Middle East have, which allows the US to have influence over them and just feel like, yeah, we can push you around.

And Iran's like, no, we're not going to allow you to do that.

So Trump is trying to get that president set with Iran as well.

And Iran, like I said, is not...

They're not in the mood for that.

They're not going to kowtow to us.

And why should they?

They're their own country.

They have a right to live how they want, as long as they're not causing war with anyone, unlike us and unlike Israel, and they're leaving everyone alone.

Why not live their lives?

And what's crazy is I live through the Iraq War.

The propaganda that's happening in mainstream media is escalating this and depicting Iran to be this very belligerent country and this religious zealot country, this Sharia law and how women are, they don't have rights and blah, blah, blah.

And I'm like, hello, we just reversed Roe v.

Wade.

We just got rid of the right to abortion in most of the states of our country.

So we are taking away women's autonomy already.

You have people like Charles Kirk going to universities and telling women that the only place they should be is in the kitchen.

Like we are setting precedent to take away women's rights.

And yet, we are complaining because of religious ideologies, you know, Christian ideologies.

And yet, we have the nerve to say, this Muslim country are religious zealots and using religion to set these laws against women.

Are you serious?

That's what we are doing here.

And you are calling them like they only believe in death and war, but Israel attacked them first.

They did not attack Israel.

We attacked them first.

They have not attacked us yet.

You even assassinated their war generals in your first term, and they did not retaliate.

And yet, here we are again, attacking them.

And right now, as of Monday, the 23rd of June, Iran has not counterstrike, have not done a counterstrike against the US yet.

They've only retaliated against Israel.

But I'm sure after this spectacular military success that Trump is calling these US strikes throughout attacking Iran nuclear sites, attacking their, you know, basically trying to kill their power grid, I'm sure Iran is going to do something to return the favor, because enough is enough.

And you know what?

I don't blame them.

And the sad thing of the matter is, if Iran had ignored the Iran nuclear deal in the first place and created their nuclear, you know, went along with their nuclear program and had nuclear missiles, nuclear weapons, they wouldn't be in the situation right now.

They would be left alone because you know what?

It's a good example of that.

North Korea.

North Korea kept getting harassed by us and we kept attacking them and being belligerent to North Korea.

And North Korea created nuclear missiles and started testing them around their region to prove that, okay, we now have nuclear weapons.

And guess what happened since North Korea got nuclear weapons?

We left them alone.

We haven't bothered them since.

We stopped.

Other than, you know, trade sanctions and things like that, that we've been doing regularly to any communist countries because we're anti-communist.

Other than that, we've pretty much forgot all about North Korea.

We don't talk about North Korea anymore.

The way we talk about Iran because these war hungry nut jobs in the media and in the Pentagon have been salivating for this war to happen in Iran since the Iraq War, which again, we lost, and it cost billions and billions of dollars that could have been used for our country to help the unfortunate.

But yeah, we don't think about that.

So, this war will be far worse in terms of how it's going to affect this country.

It's gonna cost even, you know, astronomically more than what the Iraq War has cost and is still costing us.

And speaking of, you know, equal rights and whatnot, the Supreme Court has decided to support Tennessee laws that are banning care for trans kids.

So yeah, more anti-trans legislation happening in our country.

And the insidiousness of this, you know, because they're doing it to help protect the kids, so they say, which is a load of bull because of other things that we do that obviously do not protect kids.

But on top of that, we know what this means is, once you set this precedent, once you give them the right-wing agenda this inch, they're gonna take a mile.

So kids are then gonna be, are gonna then be applied to trans adults.

And it's just a matter of, because they're gonna now use this Tennessee law as a proof positive that, hey, yeah, this works for our society, and it's better for our society that men are men and women are women, because we are a Christian nation.

And even though, you know, the Constitution talks about separation of church and state, we're gonna forget about that part of the Constitution because we are now a Christian nationalistic state, and only Christian nationalist ideologies are the law of the land.

So screw any religions, screw atheism, just right-wing Christiano-ethno-white-supremist ideals.

That's the way, that's the law of the land.

So, those are pretty much the new stories of the day.

And what are my thoughts about this?

This is destroying any capital the US has, globally.

We are a blight to the world.

Any goodwill that we've conjured since World War II, with the Marshall Plan, with the US aid to countries in Africa and things like that, with our trade agreements with our allies and other countries.

I can't say with our imperialist tactics, because that didn't really help us in as much as, you know, Europe was going along for the right as well, because they were also being imperialistic to other developing nations.

But anyways, but we've now, even at this point, especially with what's happening with Iran, and letting Israel run amok in the Middle East, it's just, it's just getting crazy, because Trump is not only breaking international laws, he's also breaking domestic laws.

And everyone is seeing it.

Everyone is seeing how he is shredding the Constitution, this whole martial law thing that's happening in LA.

And the fact that he's going to do this in other cities, like New York, Chicago, Seattle, and Portland.

The fact that he had these stupid tariffs because it's going to bring in business.

But is it really nothing?

All it did was bring the cost of goods to the citizenry.

Only we're the ones suffering that.

And on top of that, you actually killed more jobs because there were companies that were going to build factories in places throughout the country.

But because of the tariffs, the cost to build said factories went up.

And it just wasn't financially feasible for these businesses to do it.

It just, economically, it wasn't in their best interest to build this factory in those regions that they were going to pre-tariffs.

Because the tariffs made it too expensive for them.

So they just put a kibosh on that.

On top of that, it cost more jobs.

And so we've lost more jobs.

Prices of goods are gone up.

There's also price shortages because we're importing less stuff because countries are just not going to deal with those tariffs.

They're like, screw that.

We're just going to continue with our agreements elsewhere.

We've ruined our relationship with Canada.

Canada is now deciding, hey, you know what?

We can get our gas from China.

We can get other goods and services from China.

We don't need the US.

Or we can deal with Russia.

I mean, Russia is no, you know, we haven't had a good relationship with Russia, but it can't be worse than the US.

Like the fact that that's now an inkling of an idea that the US can't be any worse than Russia speaks volumes because it was always US versus Russia.

It was always, we'd rather deal with the US than Russia.

Putin is a monster.

Well, now we have Trump.

Trump is a monster.

And the fact that we allowed him to have a second term is just ridiculous because once again, when he took over after Obama, he basically reversed everything Obama did.

So that was like, what the hell?

And then Biden came back and he sort of fixed a couple of things.

He sort of reversed some of those actions that Trump did.

And then Trump came back and he once again got rid of all those things.

So we look like we have bipolar disorder.

As a nation, we are bipolar.

And so we're hot and cold.

We're mercurial.

At any moment, we can attack you or we can be nice to you.

And it's like, do you really want to make a...

Do you really want to deal with a person like that?

Or a country like that?

The only thing that this country now has, sadly, in its favor, it's not a good thing.

The only thing that we have in our favor, that the US has in our favor, is that we are the biggest military in the world.

Compared to other...

The second...

I forget what the...

How much...

I mean, we spent...

Trump just approved a trillion dollar budget to the military.

So I believe, compared to the second biggest military nation, we spend 10 times more than they do.

So compared to everyone else, we spend way more than everyone else.

But the second closest to us is...

We spend 10 times more than the second closest.

So that's all we have going with us.

And with our might makes right attitude right now, that Trump is implementing both domestically and internationally and globally, it just makes us look like the bad guy.

That's what we are.

We are the bad guy.

And it's just, we are a mess of a country.

The world does not see us in a positive light anymore.

They're now looking towards China.

That's going to affect the US dollar sometime soon.

Don't know when.

Hopefully after my lifetime, which is in, I would say maybe at most 40 years, or maybe, no, I'm 48 right now, so I really don't want to live that long at this point.

But yeah, my nihilism is coming out, because yeah, this country is falling.

Our trade relations are ruined.

Military, we're alienating our military allies, because no one wants to join this war with Iran.

No, why would they?

The poor are suffering more here, the rich are getting richer, and I mean, you're creating martial law, you're terrorizing your own citizenry.

I mean, that's just, that's not a good look.

We're looking like Nazi Germany did in World War II.

Only a worse knockoff version of it, because we have a man baby for a president who's only going to be here for four more years.

I mean, unless he decides that, no, I'm now the ruler, and the Constitution doesn't even exist, I'm no longer president, I'm just King Trump.

We'll see how that happens, if that happens.

So yeah, I'm just, if I wasn't trapped by my debt and I had money, I would leave the country right now.

I would go to Europe, maybe Canada, but Europe is further away.

So I want to get as far from here as possible.

And at the same time, you know, live a somewhat comfortable life, have the modern amenity, wow, the modern amenities, yeah, amenities that I am accustomed to, you know, internet, broadband, how do you call it?

Yeah, broadband internet, running water, cellular service, you know, the works.

Modern society, probably England, because they speak English there, and I don't really speak any other languages.

I would have to learn maybe French, or really perfect my Spanish, like I'd go to Spain or France, you know, that would be, that would be my plan if I had the means to do it.

Unfortunately, I do not.

So I am stuck here living this hell, and hoping for someone to get a backbone, for Congress to get a backbone, because what Trump is doing right now, as I mentioned, is just one of many illegal actions that he's taking, because the president can't declare war without approval from Congress.

Congress obviously has not approved this military attack, but he went and did it, and the damage is done.

I don't know what more can be done.

I mean, he should be impeached again, and this time successfully, but no one is lifting a finger.

They're just letting all of this happen.

And so it's just garbage, man.

The world is garbage right now.

So anyways, that wraps up the show.
